RIJKS® is the restaurant of the Rijksmuseum.
RIJKS® opened its doors in 2014 in the Philips Wing of the Rijksmuseum, with Joris Bijdendijk at the helm as executive chef. In 2023, following an extensive renovation, the restaurant reopened with a completely redesigned interior and a renewed menu.
Together with chefs Yascha Oosterberg and Friso van Amerongen, Bijdendijk champions the ‘Cuisine of the Low Countries’—a philosophy rooted in the purity and simplicity of Dutch produce. The team draws inspiration from ingredients grown on native soil, enriched by the diverse international influences that have shaped Dutch gastronomy over the centuries.
RIJKS® was awarded a Michelin star in 2016, climbed to 17 points in the Gault & Millau guide in 2019, and was recognized the same year in the esteemed 50 Best Discovery list by the team behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. In 2025, Joris Bijdendijk was honoured as Gault & Millau’s ‘Chef of the Year’.
